Should I change my own t-stat and hoses?

My 1994 has all original hoses and t-stat. The hoses are getting spongy and I don't want to be stuck on the side of the road some night. It looks like this job could be a sob. I consider myself an average mechanic. Has anyone done this job and would you recommend letting a pro do it or should I give it a shot? Any advice/tips would be appreciated and a good source for the parts as well. Thanks, Fife

i can't recal the last time i heard some one have a hose leak. I think it would just be a messy job and any shade tree mechanic should be able to take it on.

It is indeed messy. You will have antifreeze running out from one side to the other with no drip pan big enough to catch it all.

Plan accordingly. :D

Yes, catch what you can, but don't feel guilty if some runs off into the gutter...it's environmental impact is very low compared to oil.
