Should I Junk My Beloved Mark VIII

Hello All!
I'm a newbie on this forum. I sincerely hope I am in the right place.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? I am the 2nd owner of a '95 Mark VIII LSC. It was the
'little old ladies car', who when she went in rest home her grown daughter used it to freeway commute from Sacramento Ca to San Francisco Bay area.. 75 miles each way.
so most all of the 50,000 miles of the total were freeway miles in the last 5 years.
I bought this car from her 2 years ago. It was been good, up to now. I planned to retire with it, as 102,000 current miles is super low for this type car... I just put in new Strutmasters conversion kit into suspension ( as that was giving me a lot of trouble, and left me stranded for 2 1/2 hours on a street where the bottom of car hung up). I also put new plugs, wires, belts hoses, tires. The car was running wonderfully. I detailed the daylights out of it! (wax, carpet shampoo, leather treatment). BUT yesterday I had to floor it in a freeway onramp situation... it smoothly went to 80 mph, when when I let off, it started stuttering, shaking, popping. I drove to mechanic who had to spend 3 hours checking all the sensors, smog devices, plugs, wires etc, until did compression tests on the cylinders, when he discovered that cylinder #1 had no compression. He suspected it to be a burnt valve, or cylinder issue. he quoted $3,300 estimate. I told him to just put it back together, and I drove it the 1 1/2 mile home, after disconnecting the fuel injector for that cylinder. It sure runs a lot worse than you would think with just 1 cylinder out of 8 now working. I LOVE THIS CAR. It is perfect inside and out, and gets compliments from strangers all the time. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THIS WAS YOUR CAR?
I can't stand the thought to junk it.. Should I sell it for $1,000? Should I fix it, and risk another big bill coming up on something else??
I am sorry for this long post... I guess you can tell I love this car...
I really appreciate any helpful info you can give. Thank You- Greg T in California
