Spider valve - Can it be made quiet?

Well, it seems my compressor is on the way out. When I start the car in the morning, it raises much slower than before, and the compressor makes a most pitiful noise, like it's struggling.

So I guess it's time to talk to Eddie and get a new compressor.

I understand the purpose of the spider valve, but I for one don't like the idea of the loud venting noise. Has anyone come up with some way to keep it quiet? Some sort of "muffler" or something that won't hinder the operation of it? If not, I may forgo getting one.

You can get foam or bronze mufflers from either mcmaster-carr or graingers, or any pneumatic supply house.

I recently put one of Eddie's compressors and his spider valve setup in my Mark and I was really impressed. I work for a Lincoln dealership and I can't match his price even with my employee discount!!
More importantly, I've never seen a new Ford compressor, straight out of the box, or on a new vehicle, that pumps as fast or as quietly as Eddie's rebuilt. You won't be disappointed.
As for the spider valve, I love it. I mounted it right behind the grille and I think that audible "whooooooosh" is the coolest. It means the system is being purged and it makes me feel confident that my compressor's innards aren't corroding. Up here in snow country this is a big issue. It's also sparked quite a few parking lot conversations, giving me opportunities to brag about my car, and we all want to do that!

Frankie, you need to understand Mark. He likes the quiet. I let him drive my car with the exhaust open and he said it was too loud. Personally, I think he's getting old. ;)
