Stock 10-disc changer repair

From reading past posts in this forum it sounds like mine has a bad micro switch. Some of you have had yours repaired. Do any of you have a part number on the micro switch that was replaced?
I talked to a local repair shop that says they might have it in stock, he's got a lot of older stuff. But since he charges an arm and a leg just to look at it, I'd like to make sure he's got the part before I take it up there. He said even though Sony doesn't have the parts any more, ALPS acually made the switches and they still have them. Even if I just get a Sony part number we might be able cross reference to the ALPS number.
The stock system was plenty to keep me happy. I'd rather spend $75 - $100 to repair it than $300 - $400 to replace it.
Any help appreciated.

Hmmmm....
The deafening silence is unbearable. OK. I guess since mine is broke anyway I'll do an autopsy and see if I can figure out which switch it is and try to find a part number.

I'm just going to buy a brand new 6-disc. $299 installed, works with existing head unit.

I threatened mine with the scewdriver then decided to give it one more chance. The damn thing started working.
I stopped by a local car audio shop yesterday, told him I wanted to either replace my changer or replace the head unit with a CD player that looked stock. He said he had a 6 disc replacement unit that was between $350 and $380. Other than that I was SOL.
He looked at me like I was crazy when I started asking about Visteon.
I just don't like any of the aftermarket head units. All the flashy, gaudy displays and the big gap it would leave in my dash. Yuck.
If I could find one with a more subdued display that would match the dash and an installation kit that would utilize the extra space with storage or something... I might consider that.

Go here to find a Visteon dealer nearest you:

I took mine out today, I cleaned it out a little and hooked it back up. It seems to work for now, but I know at some point it'll poop out on me.

Here's the info on the back of the unit:

Part No. F6LF-18C830-AB
Date Code: November 1996
Serial No. 23486
Software Revision Level: 4.1.3

It's a Sony 10-disc.

RE: Stock 10-disc changer repair

I checked out Visteon's site a few days ago, really liked the MP3 player. The 2 closest dealers are in Carrolton TX, about 130 miles away. I emailed them both and one even emailed me back. He said the wiring wasn't compatible and suggested I go get a kenwood or alpine or something.
I've gotten several quotes from shops here for a new CD changer, between $300 and $400. One for $750 to replace the head unit and add one sub. I'm trying to save up money to go to Sturgis again this year, so I'm trying to keep the bill down. I'll probably just listen to FM for a while...

Try this guy he has a couple of Mark VIIIs and was on the other board from time to time. I bought a factory CD player for my 94 from him. When you talk to him tell him about this board.

Hey Von Erik, I can show you some websites where you can buy a Kenwood 6-disc and adapter for around $220-230 out the door. If you know how to install it (or have a friend) then this would be the cheapest alternative. I was going to get the stuff online, but I can't find a place that does installations for less than $50. I guess that's reasonable.

I still want to go to the Visteon place where they quoted me $299 out the door for an Audiovox 6-disc w/installation. That way if something is wrong with it I can take it back. I don't know yet.

Buy from a seller that lives out of state and save some money on tax.

Good luck!
