well ive got codes 181 and 189 on my 95 mark. i have done the drivers 02 sensor a while back but left passenger one so that may be needing replaced. the celcomes on when i somewhat jump on it from a stop until 40ish it will come on then shut off.

secondly after the car is warm from driving i will park it go out an hour or so later to start and it has idles up then bogged down then surged up then bogg down and die.

i was doing some reading and maybe the IAC valve is going bad but read if it surges during warm start it means it is working and adjusting.

anyone with any direction? the passenger 02 is going to be replaced and debating on whether to do the IAC

thanks guys

Sounds like an IAC valve to me....typically I think you do see the problem when the engine is cold.....however I'm not sure about when warm....from my experience it runs fine when warm with a bad IAC, but it wouldn't surprise me if it could also cause the car to die when warm. Too bad getting to IAC isn't much fun. :) On my Cougar, it's a quick 2 minute job.

I would suspect the IAC as well if it only surges when cold or when hot, but not both. This would indicate that the valve is sticking at a certain position.

If it always surges (hot or cold), I would look for something else.

I pulled the codes you got from the web:

P0181 Fuel Temperature Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
P0189 Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Intermittent

First, I didn't even know our cars had fuel temp sensors, so maybe I pulled up the wrong codes.
Second, if they are correct, then I doubt the IAC would be involved at all.

well little update. as far as the idle goes it seems to have gone away. i dont know what it was that casued it. but i ended up changing out my PS 02 sensor because i had planned to and never got around to it. car seems to be running fine. havent reset the computer yet though and start driving
