If I cut only the mufflers off of my 93, how loud will it be? I plan on replacing them with a pair of flowmasters, but for now I thought it may help to whack them off until I pick up some flowmasters. :)
 
thats been discussed numerous times here, its a good sound but since you are cutting them off anyway, might as well try it out.
 
Honestly....flowmasters sound like crap in my opinion. I cut off my muffs and it sounded perfect with some nice 3 inch tips.

I'm a big flowmaster fan, but if it's fine without mufflers, then I may go that route. Excellent pics by the way. My car is the same color. :)

Lol. Thanks. I saw that at work today, but I can't watch videos at work so I'm gonna watch them now. :D
 
You can run it without them...I didn't because I don't like driving hoooopties, lol. :)

Serious though....get your sawsall out and chop the muffs off right behind the big can, and if you cut it at a slight downward angle, the exhaust will turn down causing the fumes to shoot towards the ground and not up onto the undercarraige.
 
i just cut the mufflers off my 93 for now and welded on pipe to still come to the bumper for now until i chop it all off and do the whole thing over from the motor back. it actually sounds pretty decent with no mufflers.

Thanks for the info! I may just do that next week. I'm gonna leave it this week to go to the track. Next week I'll cut it off and go again and see if there's much difference. :D
 
Haha....it will be more of a psycological difference. It will sound faster, haha. Atleast you'll dump the 50 pounds of muffler...thats 5 HP, haha.
 
you just have to rememner that mufflers are ment ot deden sound and each state differs on its sound lawas. if you run open exhost in dallas plan on having a conversation with the judge
 
ive heard no muffler exhaust videos and quite honestly i was not impressed. sounded like a car with no mufflers. im not gonna call anyone out, but look around you will find a few vids with this set up. WOT imho sounds yucky, its almost sounds like a chevy lumina with no muffs. i had a bird with just tips and that thing was loud, especially in the car. im running bullets now, though its not much better than no muffs, i was pretty happy, not very loud in the car at all. at idle you can barely tell i have exhaust. im sure some people will disagree with me, but hey its just my opinion.
 
WOT without a load sounds COMPLETELY different than WOT while in transit....how many vids of that have you seen?

Manual shifting up and back down...


Honestly....its only raspy sounding (like a lumina w/o muffs) when you're stopped. When I was in transit, it sounded killer, expecially with my stall converter.

Also, the main complaint about no muffs is the drone at around 2600-3400 RPMS under cruising load, but I didn't mind it at all....I liked it and I didn't think it was as bad as people make it out to be.

Not here to "sell" the no mufflers thing to you, but free is a great price.
 
honistly your not going to get a reacording of what the cars actualy sound like inless they have a sound technition tecording it for them, you cant go by a cheep video for what its going to sound like on your car.
