Tell me about your 2nd gen double-din experince

I'm getting a Pioneer avh-p3200dvd next paycheck..It has all the inputs(usb,sd,aux) on the front and no nav so you prob wouldnt like it. But it does have a great 8band eq, reaction time and 4v out if you decide to run amps. It runs from around 250 for a reman(heard there New) to 300 for a new one. The add on nav system runs about 250. So if you have the money i'd just get a all in one unit.

And i'm going to follow these directions vvvv

The biggest problem i had was finding out what the best fitting trim bezel/ring was. Our unique opening was the challenge. Nobody ever gave me a def answer..And i too am VERY anal that it looks like it belongs in there.

I think I guessed right on the Metra kit that I bought. I did hack off the lower mounting holes since they interfered with the climate control.
I trimmed from the top on the radio opening, which I did gradually, test fitting each time. The biggest thing is to be patient and take your time test fitting. You don't want to mess up, cut too much and then have it look sloppy. Then there are all the wires and the blue/gray box I had to move within the dash. I just took a few close up pics that I'll add to my original thread.

The guy that made the videos KStromberg posted does a really nice job; very thorough, but I didn't like the iPhone mount. I have an iPhone too that I connected through the USB port on the Pioneer. However, I went with the Apple cable because I read other Pioneer users had problems with the Pioneer iPhone/iPod cable. I just have the cable tucked in between the driver seat and console and plug up the phone if I want to play music or video off the iPhone. Not as clean, but for the most part I don't plug it up since it automatically connects through bluetooth for phone calls.

Also, startup time on the Avic f 700 bt is about 5-10 seconds to hear music if the last thing on was the radio. Its about 20 second for music from the SD card. Its not a deal breaker and I have read that with a newer firmware its better. avic411.com is a great website for tips and mods to the Pioneer Avic line, also a reason I went with this headunit since there is alot of info and support from the community.
