Made a day trip to the Mason Dixon Dragway for a few runs in the Test 'n Tune with the new Hoosier Quick Time Pro D.O.T.s...

3 runs all day...

R/T 60' 330' 1/8 mph 1000 1/4 mph
0.079 2.045 5.836 8.987 78.47 11.720 14.031 97.45
0.313 2.021 5.787 8.922 78.68 11.645 13.950 97.85
0.073 2.027 5.810 8.943 78.90 11.660 13.960 98.03

With the exception of being caught napping at the tree on the second run, the '93 was fairly consistant in the warm afternoon sun. It was unusually mild and in the 70's for a November day at the track.

A blown Marauder was running mid 12s... :9

Nice times. So how much did the new tires cut off your 60' time?

RE: Test 'n Tune 11/5

I was hoping for 1.9s in the sixty foot but it wasn't in the stars. Pretty fair 2.0x's though. Consistency seems to have returned at least.

With the temperatures in the 70's, density altitude still was a moderate 1600'-1400' at the 600' elevation track. Most everyone had been hoping for temps in the 50's at the most.

I like the way it looks like you're doing a burnout in reverse.

That is pretty weird. I'd like to have a new videocam.

RE: Test 'n Tune 11/5

I went to milan yesterday. Got in two runs, which really sucked. Both runs sucked, too, the tranny was shifting funny (catching third gear right after second, then downshifting again). I wonder if i have a sensor problem (bad TPS maybe?) or if it's an error in the tune somewhere. I ran a 14.1 and a 14.2. First run i smoked an eagle talon, second run i was neck-and-neck with an LT1 camaro until my tranny screwed me.

Anyway, that's it for this year. 1 trip to the track, 2 passes.

RE: Test 'n Tune 11/5

Driller, were you leaving off idle with the slicks or trying to launch it at a certain rpm? What about with the drag radials? What is your launch technique?

RE: Test 'n Tune 11/5

With only 3 runs all day, there wasn't much "testing and tuning".

It was my first trip to the track with the new wheels and tires. I started with 19 psi in the drag tires and ended with 17 psi. At 17 psi I could tell it was just beginning to get a little squirrelly at the top end of the track. There had been no significant difference in the sixty foot times so I left with the impression that 18 psi would be prefferred tire pressure with the new setup.

As far as launch technique, I have not had a chance to alter the launch stall speed. With the new converter and chip, my launches from idle on the Nitto drag radials had been inconsistant due to traction issues, so I concentrated my efforts on curing that issue before moving on. While it may be too early to tell, it appears those efforts have paid off.

At the next track date, I hope to get a couple runs to feel good about the launch traction before I then start to attempt launching at any certain rpm by stalling the converter. That's pretty much where I am now.
