Threw some fluid

Here's what happened,I was running the motor while working on removing the center console, all the while she stayed dead center of the gauge, just like she always does. Then I get called on an emergency and use the car for about 45 minutes, and she starts to run very hot, never in the red though and she seemed to cool off at idle and heat up while moving(odd to me,the other way would make more sense). So I nurse her home, and get her parked, once that happened, she pissed her fluid from the left side,so opened the hood and find the battery wet which tells me it came from the reservoir. So I filled her through the crossover tube(which opened easy, surprisingly enough) and turns out she only let go of about a 1/3 to a 1/2 a gallon. What gives? All help is appreciated just like always. Sorry for the long post, just trying to cover all the bases. PS.I can't do A proper refill procedure because I can't work my EATC system due to a faulty connection, which was one of the things I was working on. Thanks again. Al.

I'd check the usual suspects, the fan and the thermostat.

Did the fan come on when this was happening? Does the fan come on when the AC is turned on?

When the car is warmed up, check to see if the lower radiator hose to the thermostat is colder than the top hose. If it's colder, the thermostat might be stuck closed.

Can't leave the car running long enough to see if the fan comes on,but if it's supposed to come on at start up it doesn't,and can't turn on A/C due to inactive eatc system, which I did a self dio on and got triple 8's so I'm guessing it's a bad connection to the blower motor. (which I was working on changing when this occurred). Thermostat is 7 months old tops,as are all the hoses. I tried to see if the system needed to be burped, and as soon as she started to warm the fluid rose to the top of the cross over tube, and would have overflowed if I let her run. Man I hope it's not a bad head gasket,I would hate to trash a 43 thousand mile car. Again, sorry for the long post, just trying to be thorough. TIA. Al.

I thought triple 8's meant the system was fine. Someone confirm.

My manual (1997)says that the display shows 888 after you hit the "DEFROST" button and it shows that the stored codes will be deleted.

The fan should at least be on low speed when the car is running and the EATC is in any position but floor, vent or off.

I guess I missed that point, Wayne!???

lol...Just bustin your chops.

I assumed your statement 'What MY (?) is the Mark?' was a typo of some kind. Are you asking about the Mileage/Year? If so, I've never seen it like that before. My apologies for my ignorance if that is what you meant.

But I'll get you next time...;)

Sorry Bud,it's a '97 with 43+ on her. Self diagnostic is supposed to show 888 on a functional system,IIRC. I'm pretty sure I have the bad blower to module connector, which I bought, and was in process of replacing when this problem came up. (888 Test complete, no error pulled from aircondition.com)

Here's a page copy of my manual to do the self test: the last bullet is where I got my info for the 888........

Well,I had her checked out and received a clean bill of health, must of had a bubble in the system that I cleared out when I refilled the fluid(using the crossover tube of course) and best of all didn't get charged for the time.:D:cool: Once again, thanks for the help and advice,as always it is appreciated. Al. PS. I should have diagnosed that myself:embarrassed: but was worried about driving a car with a overheating issue,so thought it was better to error on the side of caution.

I like your logic Bill...but there are 3 lower radiator hoses, lol.

What MY is the Mark?

Bacardi was on sale again, aye Bud? ;)

See below....LMAO!

Nope...the lower goes to the thermostat and "T"s off to the water coolant adaptor and to the crossover tube. :) Go look.........
