I'm not sure if there is anything I can do but I'm noticing that the traction doesnt seem to be on at times...today the road wasnt even slick just a little sprinkle and my car was rocking side to side after a turn i would have hit someone if they were in the next lane...anyone know the problem?

It might help if you'd post what year your Mark is. Is the message center light on for the "Traction Control"?

It's a 98 lsc 124k and yes, it has the traction control is on when i scrolled through the display....the display didnt let me know when my front struts were bad it always had air ride ok...my car would be sitting like a low rider over night...is there something wrong w/the comp. along with the traction on

You need to check your tires and lay off the throttle.

Saying that you almost hit someone because your traction control wasn't working, isn't going to fly with insurance or any court....

The system is pretty weak in the Mark VIII. If you punch it in a turn you will pull a 180...

It only helps on straightaways really...

Upon a start-up, the traction control lamp SHOULD be NOT lit. If the light is ON, your traction control is NOT on. Scroll through the drivers settings command, the 1st setting is the traction control. Push the reset button once, it should turn the light on, push it again, it should go back out and you'll have traction control. If this does NOT work, that's a problem. Someone else will have to help you. Hang on, there's people here that know these Marks very well!

Can one of the mods please move this to the correct forum ...either General Tech or Electrical...thanks!

Traction control only helps you going in a straight line not turns, it is not active handling.

As far as the check air ride message not coming on, it won't appear if you have a slow leak in your airsprings. It will appear if the leak is bad enough that the compressor can't raise the car in less than 90 seconds, so there is nothing wrong there.

Since this is a topic about traction control (and air suspension now) I'll move it to general tech because the gen 2 traction CONTROL uses the ABS brakes and the engine for control.

If it was about a gen 1 I would have moved it to Brakes and Suspension because the gen 1 traction ASSIST only uses the ABS brakes.:)

Speaking from my experience with my 98: I did that once but my tires were bad and the road was slick and I was trying to pass someone by turning apparently too fast for conditions.

However, my TC seems to work when I make turns if the road is wet, even when I don't want it to.
