Underdrive Pullies...

Ok, so October '03 (yes, I know, loong long time ago) I purchased some March underdrives from a friend and just never got around to installing them. Well, our dyno tune is coming up this weekend (I'm actually supposed to tune Sunday) and I'm wondering if I should install them before the tune or if I will be fine after? Yes i know they don't produce much of a gain for HP/TQ, BUT, one thing I did notice when I had them on the truck is the motor was able to spin up faster (Which can only help my car get going quicker, right? ).

So, I guess my real question is, should I install them now, or am I ok waiting 'til after the tune? They are going in one way or another, just haven't descided when yet.

RE: Underdrive Pullies...

I've been told it doesn't matter. I have a similar dilemma. If the mod only removes parasitic losses, it is not a tune changing item. So, as I understand it, pulleys, torque converters, gears, etc... do not change the tune but MAF sensors, manifolds, boost, injectors, etc... require a tune.

So...that might mean my manifold project coming up in the next month or so might be all for nothing if the car isn't tuned for it? Hmmm....well, I think I'll be getting the car tuned once again this fall too...so I guess we'll have to see what happens. I think I'll be putting them in Friday after I get my tips welded on now.
