Has anyone here tried to use the MS Vista upgrade site? Wow...what a POS site that is. I've been trying for 2 days now...just can NOT finish the request for the "free" upgrade!!! Keep getting the "try again later" message. This is AFTER I've entered all the dat they require!! What a PITA.

RE: VISTA

NO, but I have ALWAYS complained with new operating systems. I still don't "like" XP. My favorite by far was Windows 2000 Professional.

RE: VISTA

Mac OS 10.4.8 seems to work fine.
Of course I also run windows on this machine - xp professional. I won't upgrade to vista on the MAC until everyone else finds the bugs, sprays the Raid, and the "all-clear siren" is given.;)

RE: VISTA

You know that at this moment every hacker in the world is trying to find weaknesses in Vista to exploit.

One good thing with Vista is that reportedly patches get installed automatically.

OK, it's been about 6 months now...what's the concensus? How many have upgraded or bought a new PC with VISTA? How do you like it? How many want it but just haven't plunked down the cash? Who (besides Apple lovers) are going down kickin' and screamin' with their copy of XP (or earlier)?

I upgraded a vista ready PC because the upgrade was included, I just had to pay the shipping on the Vista CD, and it has some problems, I should have left XP on it. Or I should have done a clean install and not an upgrade. Also check for Vista drivers for things like printers, a lot of manufactures are not creating new drivers for their legacy products and that can be an issue.

Can you do a 'clean install' with the "UPGRADE" disk? Or do you have to buy a new copy of VISTA? My HP computer came with the Free Upgrade also, but I haven't installed it yet.

The kid has it and he seems very happy with it. Of course, he uses his computer mostly for gaming and chatting.
