hey i was curious what exactly an O2 sensor was/what does it do?
Stupid question from a newbie but hey i gotta find out from someone---also if someone could fill me in on what a soleniod is and what it does exactly i would appreciate that to==

An o2 sensor, or oxygen sensor, is attached to the exhaust system and senses oxygen in the exhaust to tell what the air/fuel ratio is. Normal oxygen sensors aren't very precise, they can tell you if the engine is running rich or lean, but not how rich or how lean. A wideband o2 sensor will tell you exactly what the a/f ratio is.

A solenoid is a device that converts electrical energy into motion to open or close a valve or connect/disconnect another higher current electrical circuit.

can I get a wideband 02 sensor for the mark? how much? and what are the benifits if any? thanks

search the internet. It'll probably run you at least a few hundred bucks, possibly more. No benefits unless you are tuning the car.

So... are these O2 sensors ON or Broken kinda thing? or can it vary depending on life span?
