Sad news... :(

looks like the blend door on the grey car has failed... anyone have a reinforced one?

Paging Mark... :D

Thanks!

I've got one that isn't reinforced yet. I could do it for you if you wanted. You'd have to use PayPal again, though...:p:rolleyes:

I can get them with the CHP discount for 40 bucks from ford. Updated and then reinforce with a brass colar like jeremi has shown.

You truly don't want to know how long it took me to actually send you that money...

I hate paypal so much... but at least I know my password again...

thanks, I'm waiting to hear back from Mark, but as long as it has the brass collar, I've done the dash removal at least 6 times now, I'd like to only have to do it once on the grey car... :D

$29.52 from Max at 5-star Ford. $37.26 after shipping. You may just want to call him and get it from him. He takes credit cards. :p.
It won't be reinforced though. I use the thin wire-and-epoxy method, since they now glue the arm to the shaft. I don't want to chance breaking it to get the collar on it.

Jay, the arm is still just pressed on there, no glue. I remove them of brand new units all the time using a clip removed tool, and slip the 1/2" compression sleeve on both ends. It's a perfect fit.

What kind of clip removal tool do you use? Is it like one of those trim removal tools for door panels and stuff, kind of fork-shaped, with 2 flat prongs? I messed around with the last one I did and it didn't feel like it wanted to come off. I sure didn't want to break it and waste the $40, so I just went the 'safe' way. lol.

You can also use a 14mm open-end wrench to pop it off, but you need to remove the actuator from its mounting plate first (one push nut and three plastic prongs). You'll need a vice or a C-clamp to press it back on. It's a very tight fit.
