Meh.
It's about $4500 too high.
In my opinion, my Toreador red 98 LSC was "cleaner" but it had some minor issues (Blend door = no heat, top arm broken) and I sold it for a penny under $3000
it's a California car from day 1, and was about a 9.8 out of 10 car.
Those wheels are just fugly.
BUT, low miles, right color combo, and paint appears decent.

I bought mine from a classic car dealer so I feel I overpaid. The car is great and everything works and I am happy. I am searching for issues to deal with it. A deal is what you can afford but you want a LSC at that price. If you buy it make him throw in the stock rims and change immediately.

That is a MK 8 base not an LSC. The LSC has perforated leather seats and badging on the rear bumper. Also true dual exhaust which gives 10 more horses over base models. Be careful what you buy.

Pretty sure this has the perf seats, and the LSC badge on the trunk. Tough to see in the pics. Over priced, but not if it was blue!:)

I'm with Bill.
No such thing as a MK 8
It's MARK and roman numeral VIII

Some trivial info with regards to "Be careful what you buy"....homework folks.

ALL Gen 2's had perforated seats.
Gen 2 "base" models had chrome grill, tail light surround, body-side molding chrome strips and headlight lower brow trim was also chrome.
Also, the VIN would have a 91V (base model) instead of a 92V(LSC)
and they NEVER put any badging on the rear bumper. Ever

Except that.

I apologize for the semantic error. Mark VIII is correct. But I am correct that there are two models being the base and the LSC. My 97 has body color grill and Mark VIII LSC stamped on the left rear bumper.

I went and looked and the LS C markings are on the lights, not the bumper. My bad. My car is covered and waiting for spring so I forget.

I am in agreement...but you had warned the OP that the car for sale was NOT a LSC, but a "base" where by appearance, it is a LSC.
You had used the perforated seats as an example. I was just informing you that all Gen 2's had perforated seats...LSC and BASE models.

sadly, many of us have been around these cars for so long, we forgot more than most will ever know. It's weird how certain facts can get emblazoned in to your memory about these cars...what wheels were available on what years, how many Spring Features were built, what colors were the Diamond Anniversary models available in, what vin number digits meant, etc.

Stick around grasshopper and you too will learn more than you ever meant to.
Like I used to say;

"you'll get answers to questions you didn't even know you had yet."

Every 97-98 base I've looked up in the last 10 minutes has had plain, non perforated seats. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you're saying.

What are the differences between an LSC model and a Base model?

The LSC edition had perforated leather seats, true dual exhaust, slightly lower gearing, badging, and on the 95-96 models, included the HID upgrade. Some chrome trim was also painted body color on the 2nd Gen cars, such as the grille. Suspension tuning (anti-roll bars, and possibly shock valving) was firmer on the LSC models as well. The LSC models were rated by Ford at 290 HP versus 280 HP for the base model, and have a 3.27 vs. 3.07 rear end gear. The speed limiting function of the powertrain module kicks in at what many people think is 124 mph, versus 130 mph on the Base model. This is probably due to a function to keep the driveshaft below a certain rotational speed.

I learned a lot about the differences of the two models of the Mark VIII from this conversation and look forward to picking up more good information. What I Can say as fact, if you buy the car. You will have a great sport coupe that gets attention and be very happy. In my opinion Lincoln got it right on this one I think we all agree!
