Correct. The intent was to sell it to him for half of what we had into it. However, he is no longer living with us and doesn't have a job. So I'm not going to let it sit around and rot. :-/
Selling our 1998 Lincoln Continental - asking $2500. Just put about $2000 worth of work into it with new Michelin Defender tires, passenger side ball joint/inner tie rod, alignment, transmission filter and fuel filter change and a serpentine belt. I would give the exterior and interior around...
That was my thought as well. I'm not at home to check it, but it's my understanding it's somewhere near the brake reservoir. I imagine it's way past the date I could get that recall done if that was the case.
So picked up a new to 98 Continental yesterday. I noticed on the way home the cruise control doesn't work. You turn it on, and it says "cruise control ready" but if you press the Resume/Set Accel button nothing happens. I swear the first time I tried the info briefly displayed "Cruise Control...
Well we bought a 98 Lincoln Continental for our son yesterday for his first car. It needs a bit of work (brakes, some front end work, and an upper engine mount/torque strut). So nothing major and it was clean overall.

Well guys, I have learned A LOT about these running boards since first posted this, and they are finally fixed today.
The $650 price I mentioned earlier was for the short wheel base, which has different brackets than the long wheel base. Dorman make the $650 part, but it's only for the short...
For some reason the link isn't taking it to the full listing for me - but I did find this: http://www.lincolnofwayne.com/blog/video/2016/october/18/1998-Lincoln-Mark-Viii-Wayne-NJ-d50a9ba00a0e0adf3843aba0ec3eb6d2.htm
Well, that's interesting and explains why I can't take it apart. However, what about the painted part? I'm not sure it comes out either....if it doesn't come out, does that mean I need to get it painted?Lastly, are the aftermarket motors just the motor? I ask because none of the aftermarket...
