Pretty sure it hasn't happened yet.. :)

I'll see if I can't track down more info and make this into the "official" SSHS thread.

I'll have to check my schedule, and see if I can get down there for it too.

Updated the thread title, and top post to reflect the date and location.

Please take a minute and pre-register for Southern Super Heavy Shootout 16.

The event is open to all cars and trucks. All makes and models. The
brackets are restricted to vehicles that weigh a minimum of 4,000 lbs
with driver (scale verified @ track after each run). Run all day lanes
are open for those not interested in running the brackets.

JP, I see that the car show judging is at noon. What time does it start? If I were to enter anything, it would likely just be the car show (the G8), and I'm not sure I would be able to get there at 8am. lol.

There was some event this weekend, I thought it was the SSHS17?
Yeah, like JP said, that was the SC Shootout. SSHS is less restrictive. lol. I have a double interest in this, in that Mark VIII's AND G8's are well-represented. I think I counted 14 or 15 G8's and Chevy SS's last year.

As much as I enjoyed meeting JP and Mike Schultz last year (and hope to see them again), I really hope some more Mark VIII guys are able to attend this year!

I hope to be there and support the club. Not going to race though. All my safety gear has expired and I don’t race The Mark like in years past. Besides, there is nothing else goal wise that I feel the need to chase. The Mark has nothing more to prove to me.

I think most show cars start arriving around 10 to 11 AM? The show portion is officially during the 'lunch' break from 12 noon to 1PM so not to take away any race participants.

I hope you're joking Mike. :err-what?:

I always look forward to seeing you there and watching you run. :cool-blue:

Likewise, JP. Watching you and the Blue Flame evolve all these years is inspiring!

I have a lot of great memories, but I'm pretty sure it is time to retire from the track and get The Mark back to a car that has some tread on the back tires to drive in the rain. It sits covered up way too much anymore.

I've submitted my time-off request for this, so it's pretty much 100% likely that I'm going. After my trip to the Tail of the Dragon this weekend, this will be my next big event to look forward to. :D Can't wait!

I'm afraid that it's very unlikely that I can attend this one. I have schedule complications mostly, but the budget isn't helping. :) I'm really glad to see this event continue, and looking forward to seeing the results.

I'd even contemplated flying down and borrowing my sister's fancy-pants new Volvo to race. it's plenty heavy, I'm sure.. :D Just hang the LOD banner off the back..

So now that I retire from racing to spend more time socializing in the pits with everyone, your not going to be there Mike? :fart:fart:lodrules:

I know! Trouble is, my Girlfriend gets back from a cruise just a couple days beforehand. I'd love for her to come along, but the timing just isn't coming together the way I'd like..

Reservations made at the Fairfield for Friday and Saturday. Got the oil change in The Mark a week ago, and Aric said I drove it a whopping 900 miles since the last oil change a year ago. lol Just driving it back and forth to Atlanta Dragway is almost 200 of the 900 miles.

I think I might enter in the car show, to represent LOD in the parking lot while JP represents LOD on the track :)
