2017 Carlisle RSVP Thread

I would have figured Lincolns would be in the showfield and not up there mixed in with Taurus and Mavericks! When it was the T-Bird anniversary they were in the showfield. Well in any case we're closer to the bathrooms.

The Lincolns were pushed aside once again as only the Starsky and Hutch Torinos and the Ford Broncos share the main show-field with the Mustangs.

I am utterly and completely disappointed with Carlisle Events. :frown:

40th Anniversary of the Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino
50th Anniversary of the Ford Bronco
Rousch 40th Anniversary
Fords of 1966 50th Anniversary
Mystic Cobra 20th Anniversary
Pinto 45th Anniversary

There is not even a mention of the 100 year Anniversary of the Lincoln Motor Company in the event directory for the Carlisle Ford Nationals. :frown-blue:
I agree 100% JP. I've been going to this show since 2000 and it's changed a lot since then, unfortunately not for the best either. I remember when the Mustangs were only on the 1 half of the fairgrounds and there were many different and unique vehicles to look at on the other half. Once the Mustangs starting leeching over to the other half of the fairgrounds a few years back it's been snowballing rather quickly. :( I was just talking to my cousin (a '94 Cobra owner) about the show this week and he even complained about what it has become. He said a lot of the one off unique cars you would only really see at Carlisle don't come anymore. I'd almost like to see Carlisle have a Mustang only show to bring the Mustangs numbers down for All-Ford but that would put pressure on small clubs like ours and the SCCoA, etc. to get their attendance numbers up and I'm really not too hopeful in that either...

Another good point as I brought my SC for the 65th anniversary and was amazed on how good our field position was. Even the party, while not as good as the Mustang 50th, was decent being another one of Ford's redheaded stepchildren of nameplates.

I really only go to talk to the only people in the world who like Lincoln's and to see Joe.

When there is a category for yellow, V6, 99-04 mustangs with bald tires and summit stickers, I stopped looking around.

I think Leo goes to the GM show, he can probably tell you what happened to attendance after I heard there was a falling out with Camaro clubs. The Corvette is the only solo show and is or was just as big as the Ford show. Not sure how Mustangs would do on their own as well as the rest of the Fords on their own.

The Mustangs are literally squeezing the "other" models out.

Some numbers to consider:

In 2004, 26% of the classes were Mustangs. There were 48 "Mustang" classes and 135 "other" classes.

In 2016, 43% of the classes were Mustangs. There were 93 "Mustang" classes and 121 "other" classes. The Mustang share of the classes on the showfield increased by 65%.

Think about that for a minute. That's a 94% increase of the Mustang classes and a 10% decrease of the "other" classes. Granted, these numbers do not reflect the number of vehicles in each class but still, the results are pretty clear.

The showfield is literally bursting at the seams and the Mustangs are the driving force behind it.

I'm just glad I don't have a Mustang. :fart

Once they booted Rick Markko and got that kid to run the event the Mustang people started taking over. I don't mind a lot of Mustang classes BUT spread the wealth a bit! There is no reason why they can't put a smattering of other classes on the snowfield to give spectators something else to look at besides Mustangs, after a while they begin to al look alike.

When were was a falling out with a big Camaro club they started their own show on the same date and almost all Camaros went there. GM show is tiny as a result and now this year it's longer called GM Nationals, its called The Chevrolet Nationals! People are up in arms about this, while all GM modes are welcome the name change is rather odd. I think Chevrolet division must be donating a lot of money to Carlisle to call it that.

Yea, I have noticed over the years how Mustangs have multiplied like Rabbits. Maybe it will come sown to the Mustangs getting their own show. Then the Ford show and Chevy show will combine to be Ford vs Chevy show :eek-large:

We're still in the back 40 though, right?

When I registered for the display, it said there would be some Lincolns inside a building on the showfield, and some outside that building under tents. This is not what was advertised.

We are STILL getting shoved aside for the 5,000 Mustangs that come every year (yawn). And I didn't pick out a Lincoln on the graphics for this year's awards, etc either :(

I believe you're speaking of Ken Appell. I know him through the Focus club and I'm friends with him on Facebook. Guess I need to give him a good tongue lashing! :tongue-pink:

I must regretfully inform my fellow Lincoln friends I have to cancel my planned trip to Carlisle this year due to medical issues with my better half Judy. Had planned to surprise you all by trailering a Blackwood behind my Aviator. Figured that might be different. Hope you all have a great weekend and Judy and I send you our best. Hope to see you all next year. Bruce

The only other thing I can think of that ruined the Lincoln display is that maybe they didn't get 100 cars. I know we offered to help, and I'm sure LCOC would have been glad to help. No one wanted our help, though.

Bruce, You and Judy will be missed, but you are right to stay home and focus on Judy's health.

We'll see you both, and that Blackwood, next year. :)

Good, we need more people with really nice MKZs to make me feel bad about how I'm not so slowly driving mine into the ground... :D

Also, you should totally try to get there Friday if you can! :D
