All,
We just got back from taking our 1994 Mark VIII to the ten year anniversary 24 Hours of Lemons race at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven Michigan. We bought it for $300 in May in rather sorry and disgusting shape. Very proud of our run this weekend. All three members of our team had ZERO racing experience and zero experience with the Mark. We finished 67th out of 108 entries in the endurance race. The car ran flawlessly for 14 hours (8.5 hours on Saturday and 5.5 on Sunday). Here's a link to over a hundred pics from our race. (some pics are of my family included in the album).

Nice!
Subtle theme, car looks great, nice and clean, even at the end.

Any penalties? Any offs? Anything that you would do differently? Is it still usable with minor work/maintenance or did this race take its toll on anything?

One black flag on Saturday for a pass under yellow - didn't see the flag. No offs at all. No contact at all. Hit 98MPH on both straights. We were very fast from point to point, slow in the turns.

Didn't break anything. We will probably do better brakes next year (plan to race it at least twice more in 2017). We ran 400 treadwear street tires - no racing tires and they held up remarkably well for about 550 miles of racing. We did manage to run it down to a quart low our last hour - we simply forgot to check the oil midway on Sunday (really really dumb) but it still registered on the dipstick and no noticeable issues. The car ran plenty cool on water only all weekend. Never had any overheating issues. Always ran smooth, pulled strong, shifted great and gave us no mechanical issues at all.
