Coated or not?

I feel silly asking this, but are the leather portions in these cars considered to be coated (as in a thin vinyl like protective layer)? Or are they infact just regular leather?

I tried a quick search but didn't find an answer. :embarrassed:

the top parts that touch your body are leather. The rest is vinyl. Most cars with 'leather" seats are not completly leather. High end cas like a bently, mercedes, etc will be all leather. If you get custom seats made they will usually make them entirely from leather. You do nto save much on custom leather by having a few sections made from vinyl. When you make millions of seats you save allot making sections out of non-leather material.

On our seats the inside section of the bottom that is up against the center counsel is not even vinyl. It is cloth since it cannot be seen.

I knew which parts were vinyl and which parts were leather... I was just curious if the actual leather portions were considered coated/treated leather like most modern day leather, or "bare" leather like some of the high end cars (porsche, maserati, etc..)?

You know the type of leather that they say conditioners are a waste of time because they can't penetrate through the protective barrier.
