Convertible Conversion, one Modification?

I'm hoping to bring the convertible to Carlisle next year, would the conversion be one modification or many?

Thanks guys. It is stock now, otherwise except maybe the lowering Module 8. When I bought it, it had an aftermarket radio and stick on wood interior pieces.

It's probably similar to like back in the day when auto makers would send their cars to ASC for sunroof or moonroof installation.

So... are you worried that you're going to take a trophy from someone else?

And I ask, because that car is totally trophy worthy... particularity because of it's one >stupidly large< modification... :D

Seriously though... as long as you register it as a MK8... that's what's important... :D

I can't think of any car that I've ever driven to Carlisle (Cadillac or otherwise) that wasn't registered as a Mark VIII (including the MKZ) :D :D :D

Good point BADSAX. I plan on bringing my 94 that is stock. Bills vert would most likely take the trophy for stock, or modified. I guess the rules say 1 mod, and it's still stock. Looked up "stock", and found this; an automobile that had not been altered or configured from it's orginal factory build. MMMMMM is it or isn't it stock? I'm ready for some Yuengling beer.

I'm not worried about taking a trophy or award from anyone, I just want to be clear what my car should should be. Just because my car is a convertible doesn't mean I'll win anything anyway, especially against a car like Tony's or someone else's gen 1 or 2. There might even be other convertibles?

I thought you were allowed 3 modifications for stock? Small things like plugs and wires don't count.

I always try to keep my cars stock, but this one might end up over 3 mods anyway, I'm thinking about HID lights, and the seats are the 94's with the continental stars (the 93 didn't have those). Add to that the 94 (only) double sun visors and I'm over 3 mods if we did consider the convertible one mod.

That's the way the Carlisle folks used to classify stock vs. modified.

Unless there is a massive influx of Mark VIII's preregistering, there is only one Mark VIII class.

One class would be cool. Awards would be based on how much sweat, and love you put into your car. Bill, my 95 has double visors also. My 94 has HID's, and I painted the motor cover, and splash guards. So I guess it has mods. It gets noticed at shows, but the opal white just doesn't "POP" like a dark color do. Going against my statement of last year, I'd most likely vote for your vert. At least we'll have more than one GEN 1's to vote for ha ha.

It gets to be a gray area if you use factory parts, like using factory rims, sun visors, etc, don't necessarily count as mods. Maybe not parts from the same year but the same generation anyway so still factory. If in doubt just go in the modified since there is a lot going on with converting to a rag top, but I don't think it will make much difference with one category anyway.

We need this massive influx you speak of.

I think steve has the right info. Influx; Carlisle considers a MK VIII vert modified, because of the work done to it is excessive. Like steve says, all the little stuff doesn't matter, so get those HID's, and get a Carlisle trophy, it'll look good next to the LOD one.

Modified it is, thanks guys.

I think you still have to select stock or modified when you buy your ticket for Carlisle?
