I put a double X on in place of the 3rd cat back around 2000. Although a single X pipe probably would have be fine.

X-pipe would get you a little more power technically but I doubt you'd notice, get a nice racecar sound though.
H-pipe sounds more like a hot rod.

From my experience the X-pipe will be alot louder too

I think the double X-pipe is just wasting money. In the early days people thought it helped with drone. Most people install a regular X-pipe and are very happy. The only person I can recall installing an H-pipe is Gonzo. The X-pipe mufflers will give you less noise.

I noticed a little more power on the high end. I did remove the mufflers too so i would say a maybe 5hp increase at best.
The best way to describe the sound was...brutal.... alot louder than open headers and like a professional race car, i liked it.

Taking out the 3rd cat and adding the X pipes gave you more aggressive sound and maybe a bit more power.

More than a few people have removed the muffs and mid-cat and ran straight pipe and were very happy.
