Getting ready to start exhaust on my 96 lsc.I want to leave the front cats and go 2 1/2 from there back with an x pipe. Some of you older guys might remember the sound of the late 60s early 70s cobra jet mustangs and torinos.Thats what I,de like to end up with. Some call it the "boat like" sound.Any suggestions on mufflers.Leaning towards Magnaflows. They seem to have that deeper throaty sound.

I had the magnaflow bullets ON MY 98 LSC. The car had NO mufflers when I bought it and that lasted for about 3 months...I needed something. I wanted the sound my old VIII's used to have and thought the Magnaflow Bullets would give me just that...they didn't have the sound I was hoping for...to
burbbly" if that's a word.

I used to have DYNOMAX race bullets on both my 94 and my 97 LSC in stock location and they have the sound you want.
You cant buy them off the shelf at a muffler shop...you'll have to find them on summitracing.com

here's a pic. basically a small glass-pack but on the Mark VIII they work.

PRODUCT PICTURES. They fit nicely up high enough that the sides of the bumpers hid them:

The closest I have heard a Mark VIII to the sound you're looking for was with Borla mufflers.

I don't recall the details but I couldn't find the Borla's I was looking for to put on my '96 at the time and ended up using SS MagnaFlows (which I really like).

I have what you want as a set up, don't know if it is the sound you want but I'll work on getting a clip up tomorrow.

You might get it to sound like a Mustang Cobra from the 90's that's about it. That 60's 70's sound is not possible especially with these multi valve motors IMHO.
Especially at higher R.P.M'S

Its not the multi valve engines its the rear mounted mufflers, a mid muffler system would sound just like a 60s-70s muscle car. I just don't see a mid muffler system fitting and looking right under these cars.

Maybe err i dunno this sure sounds like a 60's 70's muscle car with a 3/4 cam to me. I think the cam does the trick note rear mounted mufflers.

But i might be wrong here is a blown Mark don't know if cams are changed my guess is yes.
This one is damn close with rear mounted mufflers as well.
