They are pretty cool but not all gen 1 have it also. I know for sure 96 didn't come with one. No idea when they stopped.

Handy for checking the oil. I keep mine switched off, fear of battery drain.

Needs a brighter LED, I was looking at adding strips to the 97.

I have a late 1995 (made in mid '95) and mine has the hood light, they must've stopped for 1996

The extra wiring in the harness for '96 probably led them to curtail the convenience lighting.

I was thinking the same thing. They were able to negate the cost of the OBDII upgrade by removing that light..

That's because 2nd gen owner did not need to pop the hood for breakdowns :wink:

I think the Gen 1 engine looks better too.

What year did they eliminate the switch on the trunk light, was that 96 also?

I always think of the 96 as a Gen 1.5
