I did at 7:00 AM and I took my son. I never seen my poling place so crowed. From the questions people had I could tell there was a lot of new voters or people who have not voted in a very long time. I have voted in ever election since I was 18. People died so I can vote so it is something every American should do.

I walked to work today, and stopped at my polling place right as they opened, as it is along the way. There was a line, but they moved quickly.

One of the useful things my place tends to do is that in addition to the voting booths, they set up a bunch of 8' banquet tables and throw out some pens. If you're less concerned about the privacy, you can pack a bunch of folks in there, and go to town. It speeds things along quite nicely.

One friend, whom I suspect may not make a habit of voting, claimed "it was easy. I just had to confirm my address, and sign my name. they didn't need an ID or anything."

to which I replied, "that's kind of how it works.." :)

Here too. Yes, I went around 10AM.... two people ahead of Penny and I. Took longer to get out than in. Paper ballot! Line was at the tabulation machine!

What are these pens you speak of? We have electronic machines here.
In NY we have a dual system. We first fill in little eentsy weenie circles on a form (that only people with 20-10 vision can see) next to a candidates name then we place the form into a scanner that reads the sheet. Unfortunately we have no way to know if the vote was correctly counted as it doesn't confirm anything on the screen.

West Virginia is ahead of the times. We had early voting in five locations in our county and I voted on a Saturday afternoon. :)

I "signed in" on a tablet, voted on an electronic touch screen that printed a 'ballot' for confirmation which I then scanned into another machine to be tabulated.

Here in Cobb County, GA., we have Diebold electronic voting machines - my vote is recorded onto a blank yellow chip style plastic card that I give to a gentleman waiting at a table by the exit. I also had to fill out a form and sign with name & address, and present my drivers license to get that card to cast my vote.

No ID here, just have to go to the table with my districts books, give my name and address, then sign next to my old signature. Then fill out a slip with my signature and name printed, give it to the guy at the voting machine. Would like to get a printed receipt just in case.

Chicago burbs, 14 pages, all electronic touch screen, then review the paper on the side with a chance to make corrections. No ID needed, just my name and addy. With my last name, almost got priority voting ;) (are you a cubbies fan?). Early voting, no line. Surprising that some states still have so many requirements to vote.
