Head gasket leak repair

Moose may have developed a head gasket leak, I'm losing fluid every few days. It also has an occasional rough start and once blew out a lot of white exhaust.

I'm thinking of using the Bars Head Gasket Repair. Anyone ever used this before?

The Caddie with the Northstar engine had lots of problems, and I read somebody came up with an additive that sealed the head gasket. If I had a gasket problem I'd look into it.

I wouldn’t add anything to your cooling system except antifreeze/water. I promise you there is no such thing as a ‘mechanic in a bottle’.
If your looking for something to plug up a hole/leak you have to ask yourself what else is this stuff going to gum up and ruin?
If you are certain it is a head gasket change the head gasket when you can/have it done only.

I used Bars Blown Head Gasket Repair (HG-1), https://barsleaks.com/product/blown-head-gasket-repair/

I followed the directions exactly and so far since yesterday Moose does not overheat, seems not to be loosing antifreeze which it was rather quickly, no white smoke. Even the idle works better and no rough start.

I'll see how it goes next few days but I have a feeling this worked. So far so good!

Glad to hear the band aid worked. Now you have something to add to your Round to it list
AAA is good to have. I insure with Hagerty, and they have service like AAA for a few bucks.

This thread makes me want to change my antifreeze. Leo, when was the last time you changed the antifreeze in Moose?

Flushed the system in 2016 but with the head gasket leak I was putting in fluid 2 to 3 times a week! Today is day 4 and so far excellent results. All the problems are gone and Moose runs smooth as a kitten with no fluid loss.

The Steel Seal fix worked for HOTLNC. I donated the car because I could not pass emissions testing.

I used a kind that cane in a green bottle from Wal-Mart and it had i think lime liquid glass pretty much ..i used it on my escort and ran it HARD for about 2 years and atleast 30k miles..i did flush the rad to be safe after the hg sealed..
The stuff was like 60$ a bottle but it was worth the extra 2 years I got out of the p.o s .

Almost afraid to mention it as it might jinx it all but so far so good, Moose is running great and no further problems after nearly a month.
