Navigator air ride

So the Mrs. came home late the other night and said the Navigator had something wrong with it - it was "too bouncy".

Yesterday morning when I left for work I could tell the air ride was the problem since the rear was slammed. Great. Now I have another project.

The garage is full right now, so I'm going out to the driveway and hope I can diagnose it quickly. It's a '99 4WD Navi' with load leveling air suspension and it has been just fine up to this point. I know I have a relay, a couple solenoids, tubing, etc... but I'm hoping it's not a compressor or airbag failure.

Step 1, check fuse. Fuse is good and there is no sign of the compressor kicking in.

Step 2, hook up air hose to the mini-spider valve and cycle key to raise vehicle. No go.

Step 3, slightly raise slammed rear of vehicle and try again. Nothing.

Go inside and study manual to locate suspension switch and relay.

Upon returning to the driveway, I find the Navigator has released the jack. :D

Suspecting the relay, I searched the garage for my spare and once I located it, I unplugged the harness connector to the relay on the Navi' and plugged in the replacement. When I turned the key on, the compressor ran momentarily. I stepped to the rear of the Navi' and stood on the rear hitch. Sure enough, the compressor kicked in and it leveled up as it should.

After swapping out the relay, I took it for a short ride and all seems to be well. Now, to order another spare relay to replace the stock I used. ;)

A nice quick fix. Why can't the air suspension problems on my 200k+ cars be this easy... :D

Do the marks use the same relay as the navigator?
