Hi all - Just bought a black 98 MK VIII with 103K from an older gentleman. The body is good, but there are a few mechanical issues I'm working out. I'm really appreciating all the great tech posts on the forums. Thanks to all who have contributed their hard-earned knowledge. Love that motor!

Hi again - I'd love to upload a couple of "before" pix, but am having trouble in Chrome and also in the MS Edge browser. Any hints on how to get a photo to upload? I see the "Insert Image" icon in the post form. When I select it, I can select images but get no "OK" button to complete the upload.

Well, that was a suprise!!! Had no idea that the photo had actually been added to the post.

Beautiful Mark!

My green 94 was jacked up in the rear like that when I bought it. It was caused by a froze up vent valve (part of the compressor assembly). It was frozen from rust, but that can happen with ice too.

If you're handy with electrics, you can test it electrically at the air ride module connector. See here for the pin numbers and wire colors:

http://www.lincolnsofdistinction.or...troubleshooting-and-forcing-system-to-inflate

First check that the solenoid valves in the rear airsprings work. Make sure you hear the click when you apply the voltage to them. They rarely fail, although I've had to repair a bad wire to one of mine.

Then, check that the vent valve in the compressor works. you should hear a good solid click there also.

If they all click, try them all together, they should allow the rear airsprings to vent, if so, let it vent to ride height. If not, there might be blockage at the vent valve or drier, that is connected to the vent valve.

Nice car. When I got mine last April I wondered how they were totally off my radar back in those days! They look and ride nice!

Used the holiday break to resolve some issues and do some of the mods described in the forums.
New front air shocks - check
Cobra front brakes - check
Hub swap - check
Swap old, corroded chrome rims for 18" Bullitt rims and tires - check
California rake - resolved (just let it run long enough to correct itself)
May need to lower it a little to get just the right look...
