New HID's for the convertible.

I installed these today, except for losing a headlight clip in the bumper, they went in easily enough.:D
Since it's a 93, the header panel needed to be trimmed a bit. I used my small reciprocating saw, that made it easy.

I've still got to do the high beam modification at the switch, and adjust them.

Definitely not stock anymore.:)

Thanks again Tony!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Now you need either the chrome turn signal bulbs or the switchback LED turn signals. :thumbsup:

she looks great, though.

Can the amber lens be popped out on the side, too? I feel like Warden did that, I liked the look.

gen 2 together red.jpgLooks great Bill. The chrome signal bulbs look better when lights are off. The side amber reflector in some states is a must. I never did the wire thing for high beams. When I pull back on the lever, they all stay on, I don't use highs often. On my gen 2's, I changed the ugly reflector a bit. Legal, and better looking. On gen 1, some Chrome Brite would change the look, and make the light 99% chrome.

It's actually a part of the lenses, a clear lense would be ideal.

Looks great, Bill! A very deserving car.

I was under the understanding that the low beams would turn off when the high beams were turned on.

The reason you did the modification was to keep the low beams on, so you didn't risk starting the HID's too soon after turning them off (hot strike) which shortens the life of the HID?

Your right about how the low's go off when you put the highs on. But when you pull back on the lever (to flash highs) they all stay on.

So, I guess I just need to be careful to not dim my lights too soon, after putting the brights on.

I have the mod on my green and black cars, the high and low beams work at the same time, they really light up the road.:D

With "LOD" Since 1997
From the factory the low beam HIDs stayed on when you hit the high beams. This was because it took the HIDs a few seconds to come up to full brightness. Today the HIDs have a bi-xenon bulb that has a shade that partially blocks the beam when they are on low.
