This is for those of you that want to keep the stock factory radio, and still have some modern conveniences. I just had one of these Parrot MKi9200 Bluetooth Hands-Free Music Kits installed in my 1996 Mercedes SL320, and love it :) The two features I wanted the most was to hook up my iPod, and the other was to have hands free android cell phone use. This device does both, and more, while keeping the stock factory radio 100% functional. :)

The display is hidden in the ash tray, and the hardwire lines in the console. The bluetooth remote is doubleback taped to the area by the shifter, and the microphone is next to the factory mic. I had a extra usb installed, so I have 2 - usb's 1 connects to Parrot, and 1 is a charger only, and also have the cigar lighter for the gps.

I have been looking for a device like this for some time. Most SL owners have resorted to having a iPod connector attached to the head unit, and loosing the use of trunk mounted cd player in the process.

The cell phone function is awesome, with voice dialing, and music cuts off when cell is in use and the caller's voice is heard over the stereo speakers. All while my cell phone is in my pocket.

The clearcoat on the burlwood can be sanded and polished back to a like new mirror finish. I am the 7th owner of the car, and I am sure a lot of items have contributed to make the 18 year old patina the way it is. One of these days I will refinish it. :)

I need something like this for the Town Car. :)
Yep, I'm thinking one needs to go in Wendy's minivan too. It is a neat device.

The Mark already has iPod, but I need just the bluetooth for the cell phone for it. I have to see if Pioneer makes something for the AVIC head unit.

Thanks for this Mike, this is very interesting.. It may have been a better fit for my Mark than the complete head-unit replacement that I just did.. There's plenty I miss about the stock radio.

How does it interface with the radio? Something better than RF Modulated I hope?

Here's the parts list. It is all hard wired with ISO connectors to the mute box except for the remote that is bluetooth. I had a audio shop do everything, so you might need to purchase a harness from the mute box to the radio. I also purchased a stand alone usb charger separately and had them install that too. The Parrot comes with a usb, iPod/iPhone, and in-line connector interface, as well as bluetooth.

I wonder if this could be adapted to use as a replacement for a radio. I've been shopping for a head unit for the El Camino but I never listen to the radio in that vehicle, all I want is iPhone integration to play music and have hands free as well as nav display, etc.

Leo, I called the authorized dealer/installer car audio shop and talked to them before hand, and they made sure it was compatible with what I wanted to do, and if it would work with my factory stock Bose system & head unit.

The info on the internet about this device is not that great when it gets down to specific applications. I highly suggest calling a local Parrot dealer before doing a DIY project or purchasing online.

Preserving the original features of the car while also being able to use the modern electronic devices, now that is great..nice work, Mike - Thanks for posting !
I use a Blue Parrot headset very often, in my travels as a trucker, and it has been outstanding. Although it is not as compact as some other bluetooth units, it does a great job of cancelling out the ambient noise when in use, and so the people on the other end of the phone calls say my sound quality is very good.

I took Wendy for a ride with the top down last weekend. It was the first time driving the car since I drove it home after the install, and it worked great. Wendy liked it, but... she did comment and ask why does every device I own have a sexy British lady's voice?
