Plasti dip on 20 spoke wheels

I bought some new snow tires for my winter beater.

I had been using some old snowflake wheels for my snow tires before, but they always seem to leak.

I decided to use my painted 20 spokes this time, since I don't care for them anyway. I don't want to destroy them though. My brother had painted some winter wheels with plasti dip and they seem to hold up pretty well.

I bought some grey, it was a little darker than I thought it would be though. I used the playing card trick for painting them.

Snowflake wheels look so much cooler from the back side.

I like the card trick, going to have to steal that idea.

In the past, I've used a newspaper, and just cut out the center with a utility knife. The playing cards look good too.

In other news, I'm not so sure I've seen painted 20 spokes before. I'm not surprised they exist, but until now, I think I'd only seen the chrome variant.

Another trick with playing cards. Tape them together 2-3 sections. Makes it easier to move them to next wheel. 3X5 index cards work well also, and you can find them free in the office. Hay, I see a straight flush. If your painting the backs, protect the fronts from over spray, or paint the backs first.

Good tips. I painted the backs first, but I was painting the fronts too anyway.

You can peel the plasti dip off the cards. It takes 2 hands to peel it off first.

When I paint anything, I clear coat. I got some plastic dip,(but haven't used it yet), and I got clear plastic dip,(in case I do use it. Wheels look great. What are you doing to the center caps?

I finally finished this. I didn't like the look of the dark grey wheels, so I found some light grey rustoleum rubberized paint. It's very close to the original color and looks better on a white car at least.
