Splash Guards

94 rear splash guards opal paint.jpg
Decided to put rear splash guards on the white 94. 3 different primers, 3 coats base white, 4 coats pearl. Maybe tomorrow I'll start the clear. Last year drove through a lot of construction, on the way to Carlisle. Have to protect those rear quarters.

Can't wait to see them on the car, I have a set and was thinking about painting them opal/opalescent to match the body. I just didn't care for how the black looked against the white.

Where are you getting the paint to match? Is it out of a rattle can or something you've mixed up and ran through a sprayer?

94 splash guards on.jpgCE flaps.jpgSpray cans from Automotivetouchup. Opal white= 2 kinds, # 1 base, # 2 midcoat @ $20 per can. White primer, and clear. Flaps are a little rough, and have a Lincoln star = sanding. I do a self etching primer, a filling primer, and AT white primer. 3 coats base, 4 coats midcoat, (pearl), and add design stuff, and 4-5 clear coats. I've done the fronts on the 94, and the CE. Cleaning the lower rear fenders on a white car can be a lot of work. These should help keep the oil and asphault down to a mimimum.

I just took a peak at their website. Says it's $39.90, I'm assuming that is for base and mid coats (says both are shipped with order). However, it gives two options for color code. After entering the vehicles info and selecting color option WK, it automatically highlighted the M6553A, but also has the option for WK... any suggestions on which to go with?

Also, I see they offer two different clear coats. Which one are you using? Is the sandable acrylic lacquer primer the one you're using? What about the plastic parts adhesion promoter?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I have all the details down before I place an order.

I just got their $39.90 2 can deal. Their regular clear is the best I've used. Just mist 2-3 coats, and then 1 or 2 a little heavyer. The #2 paint should be done in light coats. I have some adhesion promoter, it's ok. I go with a self etching primer, a filler primer, and their white primer. I get my green masking tape, and tack cloths from them. Plastic & tape on a roll is handy. I have about 70-90 rattle cans, and this is some of the best paint I've ever used. Have used 4 colors, and all perfect match.
