Hello guys , I just bought a 1999 LTC executive edition , I recently removed the am/FM/ cassette player to install a new head unit . The factory radio had the 4 pin connector for amp/subwoofer and it has the fuses for amp under the hood , however I can't find an amp and there is a round piece of black foam where the sub should be . Does anyone know about the factory radio options , I know the exe. series is a base model so kinda confused as to why it had the 4 pin connector hooked to old radio and fuses , any help would be greatly appreciated ,thank you

I think I can help on this one!

Behold! The trunk of my own Majestic, 1999 town car.

That little silver box behind and to the right of the spare tire, is the factory Subwoofer amplifier. It's junk. The sub distorts at even a medium volume. I strongly suspect that it is subject to the same bad capacitors that the entire computer industry was subjected to in the late 90s.

The factory sub, is an ~8" unit, housed in that black plastic enclosure above the spare tire. It fires upwards into the center of the rear package tray.

I always meant to ohm out the connector for the factory amplifier. It only has a few pins, and I believe it to be pretty "standard" in nature. If your car has the wiring back there, you could probably probe the connector and find +12v, Ground, remote, and signal wires, that could connected easily to an aftermarket amplifier and sub.

My Town Car also has the "Alpine" branded stereo in the dash, but I don't know how many options Ford had that year. Maybe they all looked like that.
