SuperCoupe ShootOut 2014

This past weekend I attended the SCCoA event in Winchester, KY known as the SC/XR7 Shootout. This annual event is always a good time and features a car show with dyno followed by a day of drag racing.

The weather was unusually cool Saturday at the car show in the hotel parking lot but the rain managed to hold off until the early evening allowing plenty of time for the dyno contestants and viewing of some pretty awesome MN12 cars.

The track was wet in the morning the following day and it took what seemed like forever for the crew to get it in shape for some drag racing. I chose to enter in the bracket competition as I was working on different tunes on the Blue Flame.

Two time trials before eliminations netted a 13.2x and 13.1x, so I dialed a 13.0 and won the first round of eliminations running a 13.210 @ 101.738 mph. Sensing the need to do better I returned to the previous best tune which had run 13.1x and dialed a 13.1 for the next round. The car must've been mad with all the digital madness and refused to launch yielding a paltry 2.3 second sixty foot time which was much more than I could make up for down the track. So it was off to the pits...

I did manage to squeeze in some test and tune runs afterwards and was soon seeing 1.8x sixty foot times and a couple 13.0xx ETs with a best of the day coming in at 13.017 @ 101.977 mph.

At the end of the event I was pleasantly surprised to receive an award for the best burnout. :D

Pics from the event may be found at my photo albums.

Glad to hear that The Blue Flame is finally starting to come back together. Now if you can only get it back down to the 12.0x's you were running right before she starting being uncooperative

Thanks.

The trailer was recently re-decked and they painted it while it was stripped down. It came back looking better than new.

12.55 was the previous best ET - in pretty good conditions with a 1.7x sixty foot time which is where the car is lacking now. If I can get the tune sorted out and lower the short times, it looks promising.

Thanks for the pics JP. Car looks awesome and great times. I think we need to get together and get a package deal going for torque converters. Mines going south i think too in the art carr tranny. That thing only lived like 5000 miles of driving and i got the highest one they made at the time.
