Traded Ranger for 2009 MKZ

OK, I keep messing up Z X and S - but it's a Z. Needed a 4 door with the Kid and his GF actually being adults with normal sized legs.

I suppose it will be a daily driver (FWD not AWD), but not sure whose, depends on which Mark is getting worked on..... I like it, it's not a Mark, but my Mark needs significant work before I fall back in love with her (Jeremi, please put some pressure on Hubby, I'm thinking I really like your idea, have a question or two, and then do I skip the paint job cause the hood would always be open?).

So, any easy performance enhancements? I was reading it likes to go into OD all the time (6 speed auto), but I haven't seen much info on the 2009 which appears to have been upgraded from the 2007/08.

Didn't even know there was a Ranger.

I know nothing about the MK Z, but I wish you the best with it.

Be sure to post pics! :D

Nice Sharon.... I too am looking at Z's. But the one I am looking for is a few and far between used car. Want the 4cyl with eco-boost.... I'll wait for the right one.

Hubby didn't talk about his Ranger??? OMG I hated it. Then I had shoulder surgery and 1) had to be pretty much pushed into the damn thing and it'd take about 1/2 hour to buckle up, then 2) any bump would cause excruciating pain. I need to read up on the MKZ's, mid-size sedan, grocery getter, but it felt kinda safe as it reminded me of my car. I tried a new fusion in comparison (same platform) but blech. I guess once you have a lincoln you can never go back to ford (although there was a Boss and a Cobra which kept drawing my attention.....)

I know what you mean. ;)

I've been looking to upgrade the Navigator. I thought I may save some money and get an Expedition, or get more towing capacity with a Ford SuperDuty. But after the Mark VIIIs, the Town Car and the Navigator, Lincoln has spoiled me. :D

Oh, I agree...

I too been eyeing up an MKZ, as a potential replacement to my aging Town Car. So I am extremely curious to hear about your impressions.
Someday I might actually be able to afford one. Let's hope for a light snowfall around New Year's, so you can take us for "reverse donut" tours.

As for the Rangers, I spent quite a bit of time in a '94 with the 4.0 and 5-speed. That was a great little truck. I miss it sometimes.

Nice interior! :)
Thanks. I liked the similarity to the Mark to be honest. Although I did get frustrated today with a few things I haven't read about yet, I know they said the interior was dated in reviews, but I sure like it. Even the kids liked it better than the 2012 Fusion and its "mood lighting".

I guess to show how advanced the Marks were for their time, a lot of the bene's of this car I already had with the Mark. In fact, I haven't seen how I can make the heated seat only heat the back like my Mark does.

The Mark VIIIs had a lot of advancements for its time starting back in 1993 that you see standard on cars now. Too bad Ford put Lincoln on the back burner and focused on their European partnerships as their prime brands for years.

Nice car! My ex had a Fusion, and I've had a Milan as a rental. They're great little cars with the 6 cylinder - and the MKZ has an even bigger 6 - the 3.5L instead of the 3.0. Should be a great little daily driver.

I don't mind jumping into a less luxurious vehicle - I do like driving my F150, and it's definitely a beater. I just like the fact that it's a pickup, can tow, was cheap, and I own it with no payments, though! But hopping back into a luxurious car, especially one that's fun and easy to drive and light on gas, sure is nice!

Congrats Sharon!

The MKZ is very nice car, I've driven both an '09 Fusion and '09 MKZ. I really like the Fusion but the MKZ is that much nicer. I've also driven the EcoBoost MKS and was very impressed but I think I'd still take an SHO over it. Unfortunately they don't make cars like the Mark anymore :(

I'm excited to see what happens during this Lincoln restructure... should provide some really interesting cars in the coming years. Maybe a Mark IX on a Mustang platform... :D

Thanks! Hopefully Hubby will say something soon... I like it, it's very appropriate, handles well, but it's just not "me" like the Mark. So, it'll probably end up being Hubby's DD and the "family" car. Kids like how quiet it is, I find it boring, lol. I just get too stressed switching cars when things like the window buttons go the opposite direction, the e-brake doesn't auto disconnect, and I can't really use the tilt/telescope yet as it's manual on the side of my bad shoulder which is pretty good, but still kinda weak. Plus I haven't figured out how to use just the heated back, so my tush gets way too hot.

The back-up beeps are pretty fun though. I haven't seen what they do if you actually hit something behind you.
