Underdrive pulleys

Anyone try these? My local speed shop recommended them as part of my package of 3.73 rear and cold air. I told them i want improved performance but want to keep driveability. They are all quality parts and install. This is a start.

Driller I bought a set of pulleys last year that I plan on installing soon.It came with the crank, alt, and water pump pulleys.Since the crank pulley is smaller and the other two are larger you use the same belt. Why do you not recommend using the alt and water pump pulleys?I know they will run a little slower but I too have changed to a 373 gear.

I run the Steeda 3pc pulley set with 3.73’s on my car. I personally recommend using all 3. I have taken my car out of state a few times and ran it locally many times since the pulley swap and can say it was a worthwhile upgrade for me.
I recommend the Steeda pulley set and have used them on many of my mod motors in the past and you use the original size belt on a 3pc UD pulley swap BTW.

Simple,You are undercharging a car with a ton of accessories and slowing coolant flow to a car that already has issues cooling the drivers side head . You may not see adverse effects immediately but you will cause premature failure to accessories and engine.I felt safe with a 3% underdrive harmonic balancer and that's as far as I will go.

I will let you know how it goes. Hopefully if all is well I will move to the brakes, wheels and tires.

Maybe I was doing it wrong?

I only had the Steeda crank pulley since I also had the Meziere electric water pump and had a heck of a time managing the alternator. Too big of a pulley and there was definite charging issues at idle. Too small of a pulley and there was issues with over-spinning the alternator at high revs.

HMMM I don’t know. On my Mark VIII the Steeda 3pc has been a nice and worthwhile upgrade (you’ve seen it when ive driven it out of state to Carlisle).
On my 3V Mustang I run a Steeda underdrive crank pulley, a Meziere EWP, a Steeda alternator pulley. That too has been a great combo and no issues whatsoever for 8 years now.

I just left the shop and discussed the concerns brought up here. They don't anticipate problems. They are looking to put Cobra posi with the 3.73 gears and tune the trans. We axed the open cold air system as they thought the original design is max.

Good luck

Are they gonna do the J-mod to the trans too? I'm for Crank pulley, Electric water pump and stock alternator. There are places you can save power to supposedly run the alternator pulley too, Mainly alot of LED conversions and updates to stuff.

Right now we are going to tune the trans to shift with the 3.73 gears. I will see how the udp's work and adjust if necessary. I hope the Cobra posi works. Need 31 spine axle.

I am going with Steeda udp,s. I'll see how it works. I am most excited about the rear end rebuild. 3.73 and hopefully tracloc.

The tracloc won't be in until the end of the month. Harder to get 28 spline. Worth the wait though because I can't imagine upgrading gears without it. If anyone is in Carlisle this weekend you may see me cruising!

Get out there and get your cruise on! I can just about see the light at the end of the tunnel here in MN. Snow is melting, and my car wants to come out to play too.

Hey, wasn't Leo looking for someone in Carlisle to check out an Aviator for him?
