I am in. Holidays are still a month away. Plenty of time to squeeze it in.

Or better yet, New Years Eve party in Chicago ?

I'm in, I just can't plan it, but of course people are always welcome to stay here and I can do my best with getting local info for people.

Are we doing this? It'd be cool, although as Hubby can attest to it will stress me out, but the fun could be worth it. It may not be as overdone as some of our parties, and you'd have to excuse me for not cooking and cleaning, but if people can pitch in and help, I don't see why we can't do it.

Normally I'd tell people I could pick them up at the airport, but that's not gonna happen, but cab fare isn't too bad, or we can see if someone else can pick people up.

There's the one spare room with a single bed, and couches, floors, chairs, etc. There's actually carpeting now, not cement floors, too, for those of you here in the midst of some home renovations. ;)

Hubby has to give the final go-ahead as he's gonna have to do most of the work.

If there is more interest, I really wouldn't mind. One thought, if we could get even a handful of folks, would be to get space at one of the airport hotels. That solves the transportation problem, and nobody's being forced into hosting..

of course, I would likely attempt to drive regardless. :)

I don't think a hotel at New Year's would be cost effective, if there's even space. Plus I'd stress even more if I have to leave my house. :)

Mark, why do you always have to miss the fun?

Hotels that are in corporate park areas may have good deals. I would use then when doing weekend trips since most biz travelers don't stay at them on weekends, so they had good deals.

Ahh crap, now I gotta plan a vegetarian meal, too.

 Lucky for me, beer is vegetarian. (actually I have a great recipe for Spinich artichoke dip and I make some great creamy cauliflower soup -- and if crab isn't a problem, I can make stuffed mushrooms, question will be, will I have the energy to actually cook).
