NEED HELP BAD

Here's the situation.

My brother who is also a Marine is stationed at Camp Lejeune N.C. He has my 66 Mustang, which doesnt run, has a bad crank. He ships out to Iraq in march, and has no way of shipping or storing my vehicle. As you may or may not know, I am in Hawaii and cant really do anything to help him, and neither of us have the money to buy an engine or pay to have someone fix it. He is short on time, and is getting married soon. So what should I do? I need to get the car to Carlsbad N.M., but I'm kinda stuck here in Hawaii. Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to stick it on a truck? Selling it is not an option, unless someone was stupid enough to offer me like $12,000 or something. I am growing desperate!!!!!!!!

RE: NEED HELP BAD

Call DAS (www.dasautoshippers.com) for a quote. If you do a terminal to terminal transport (as opposed to door to door) it may be quite reasonable. I shipped a car from Arkansas to NY, dropped the car off at the terminal in Little Rock and had it delivered to my door, $500 and it took 4 days. If I'd opted to pick it up at the terminal in NJ I would have saved another $100 but I figured it was worth it to have them deliver. You can also save by not buying their insurance if your car is covered by your own.

RE: NEED HELP BAD

You could probably buy a Mustang that runs, and is rust free for less than it will cost to ship yours. Especially in N.M.

I bought a 65 A code a few years back...lady thought it to be a plain jane notch...I knew it wasnt.

Turns out, it was the very first 65 to roll off S.J. assembly line. Then to be an A code at that.

anyway, paid $1200 for it. Sold it, untouched for $6500 a year later.

This wont help your situation, but if desperate, there are options.

tell him to register for his wedding at an auto transport company, and let his friends and loved ones ship the car for him. if his Fiance is "in", he is marrying quite well.

RE: NEED HELP BAD

Here is a IM from my brother-in-law Carl. He belongs to www.heartofcarolinamustangclub.org out of Raleigh, and thought he might know someone that could help you:

he might try going to www.corral.net and joing the forums there. this is one of the biggest stang sites on the net. tell him to go to the "southeast forums" and look for a thread titled "Mustangs of J-ville", there's almost 3500 replies in that thread and most of the guys that post in there are in the service, mostly the marines near camp lejeune. that would be his best bet trying to find help.

Give it a try. Good luck.

RE: NEED HELP BAD
