65 Vette quickie.

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

You do good work Geno but there are some cars that should be left alone. That's one of them IMHO.

That's like changing the Mona Lisa. :)

I disagree. What he did to that vette was very nice. Another great work out of Geno after a few dissapointments. He sure knows how to get back into the game.

The reason I feel it was ok to go ahead and do something to that vette was because if that really happened:

1) The owner was an idiot
2) Its only got a SBC
3) If it doesn't go fast you have to do something to it
4) The owner was an idiot

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

OK, we all know this is just a PhotoChop, right?

In most cases a customized C2 does not have the same value as a stock one. Not anywhere near the value, so in my opinion the owner is a pretty smart guy. Unless of course he's a friend of yours and you know personally that he's an idiot

And what's wrong with the small block in an older Corvette? Slow? What's your definition of slow?

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

The Cherokee parked next to it, has had its tailgate replaced using one from a junk yard. It's a Cherokee SPORT wearing a Cherokee LIMITED's tailgate.

(Couldn't help myself..... Sorry :( )

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

Paul, yes I know its a photochop.

Your very correct in saying that customized C2's are no where near the value of origional stock ones. So changeing it from oritional (minus the rims) to a customized and lozing value on it is smart? If you have the money and thats what you want to do go right ahead, but thats definetly something I would not do.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with the small block. Its just there everywhere and there no where close to being as unique and rare as the big blocks. Theres nothing wrong with haveing a styling but slow car either. Yes the small blocks are slow, but they still look good. But you do have to admit the big block hoods are much more sexy. :)

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

If I'm not mistaken, 1965 was the first year for the 396ci big block with the accompanying hood. The 1966 was the first year for the 427ci.

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

That is correct Paul. No big changes were made in 67 either. Later years with the 427 engine weren't as powerful either. They lost some cu in, in displacement.

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

It looks good but there’s just something sacrilegious about completely taking away its fender louvers

RE: 65 Vette quickie.

I believe there is a company in either OH. or PA. building cars like this. All C5 underneath. Prices (as I remember) were about $100,000.
