Drill guide for 5x4.25 to 5x4.50

    (y) Nice way to git'er dun! I've had rotors re-drilled twice before. The first time was virtually free using a machine shop I had worked with at my job. I called them and talked to the owner who agreed to do the work. When I went to pick them up, he said "no charge" and I graciously thanked...

Replacing broken secondary chain on 94 lincoln mark VIII

Anything's possible I suppose but the oil drip at the exhaust manifold stud or bolt could be coming from anywhere above it, like the valve cover? I realize the engine compartment in that area is quite crowded but try to clean the area as much as possible with degreaser or brake clean and dry...

Replacing broken secondary chain on 94 lincoln mark VIII

Not that I've seen it before but it sounds like you are pumping fuel in the exhaust? Couple thoughts... perhaps an injector is stuck open and/or you have no spark or a severe misfire in one cylinder?

    Hello All

Good to hear you and The Mark are still alive and well! There's still a handful of regulars around. As for myself, I too retired at the end of '23 and try to find time to play or work with my Mark VIIIs, though it can be overwhelming at times to keep up with the aging fleet. The Carlisle...

Fuel in the oil is definitely possible. If you suspect such, change the oil as a precaution?

 Firstly, kudos to your tenacity. I doubt you are the first to mess up on the camshafts... I'm trying to sort through my head the effects and consequences of such a misadventure. It certainly explains the crank/no-start experience however. At best, the intake valves would be open when...

Wow... there's a lot to unpack here. Before we address the mechanical aspects of your symptoms, let's review your fuel/spark troubleshooting. You seemed to have confirmed the presence of fuel, but did you check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge? The reason for asking is to...

strange transmission issue, lugging on a hill

I've always thought the stock shifts were far too 'laid back'. It seems to upshift too early and downshift too late (at least for my preferences). One of the primary benefits of a 'custom tune' for any Mark VIII is a more sportier shift schedule where the rpms are kept higher putting the engine...

strange transmission issue, lugging on a hill

Late/early shift concerns can be electrical, hydraulic or mechanical. Have you checked for any codes? That may be a start. You could have a diagnostic trouble code without a check engine light. As far as electrical, the service manual suggests performing pinpoint tests using the Rotunda...

Fuel, air, spark. Fuel... Check for presence of fuel at schrader valve on fuel rail after cranking. Key on for 3 seconds...key off, repeat 3-4 times. Recheck for fuel at fuel rail. Hook up fuel pressure gauge to schrader valve on fuel rail. Key on and observe fuel pressure. Unplug cam sensor...

Replacing broken secondary chain on 94 lincoln mark VIII

In your picture, the heavy gauge red wire should be the positive battery feed. I believe the smaller gray wires should be the fusible links with one coming from the alternator. As far as the 'click' when you turn the key... check the smaller wire at the starter. That is the solenoid feed and is...

I use Royal Purple Synthetic 5W-20 in my modified '93 and '96 cars while currently using Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-20 in my otherwise stock '93 with the Kenne Bell supercharger. Years ago I pretty much used a synthetic blend - Castrol SynBlend 5W-20 in the stock engines with simple bolt-ons. I have...

    Thunderpudn new to the scene

Welcome! 👋 Best of luck with your Lincoln. It is indeed tough to find reliable mechanics to work on older vehicles. My advice would be to find local car shows and strike up conversations with local enthusiasts to see what name(s) come up repeatedly.

I think the black cap is just a vent shield? Not sure it merits replacing the IACV... Remove the passenger side wiper cowl along with the throttle body for easier access to replace the IACV. Be sure to cover the intake opening when you remove the throttle body to prevent anything from falling...
