6 cd changer.

My 6 cd changer still works pretty good but sometimes it will skip a cd when selected.Anyone know a fix for this?

My first guess would be either a dirty, or hard-to-read CD would be the culprit. I know the 10-disc changers were never very good at reading CD-R discs and much preferred commercially "pressed" media.

A "misfeed" (ie: the changer doesn't load the disc properly) could be at fault here too, I suppose. If you were to hit a bump at the wrong time or something, I suppose.

A dirty laser might cause it, I'm currently trying to clean one in a 10 disc, they are a pain to take apart to get to the laser.

Well, I cleaned my laser, that didn't help. I saw a you tube video about adjusting a potentiometer that controls the voltage to the laser, I'll try that next if this one has that potentiometer.

Bill: I also had two of the 10-disc units bite the dust due to the center spindle breaking. The little "platter" the CD sits on is plastic. Once that goes, nothing would play.

Thanks Mike, mine spins no problem , it just stops like it's not reading it.
