97 Suspension Question

Hi All,

I have searched for this but nothing seems to pertain to what I asking.

I have a company car and 2 bikes so the Mark 8 doesnt get used much.

Sometimes the front of my LSC, w/79k miles, will sag in a few hours, overnite, or within a week.. No pattern to it. I have had the car on ramps searching for leaks using soapy water. No bubbles. I used the AAS site for info and it seems like the front struts need to be replaced. While the car was sitting all week, I noticed that the RF always sinks more than the LF. A measured 1.25 inch difference. Can one bad strut bring the front end down?

Thanks for your time,
John

Yes - One bad/leaking strut will bring the whole front down. You say you have used the soapy water test, did you also check the top of the strut, under thr hood?

No I haven't check the top of the strut, under the hood. I did remove the plactic cover to lubricate the bolts in case they need to be removed in order to replace the strut. Are you saying to put soapy water there too?

Thanks again.

The LSC sat in the driveway overnight and by morning, the front end was still up. I move it to behind tha garage, and within an hour, it was squatting in the front. Never consistent and the front end goes up withn a minute or two of starting up the car. Can a strut be inconsistent or is it something else?

Thanks!

Yes, they can be inconsistant. Read the articles at americanairsuspension.com . especially the part that says
"WHEN I LEAN ON THE CAR, I HEAR A HISS NOISE"
I bet if you bounce the car when it's inflated, it will start to deflate...mine did that...won't happen anymore, I converted to springs.
Both sides will lower from one leaky spring, because the "good" side can't support the weight itself.
