in my 02, whenever i get turn it on, the stereo, turns off for a few seconds - displaying the words " VCS OFF" something to do with the phone that was connected to the car before. anyone know how i can get it to stop doing that?

Secondly, will not turning the A/C off before turning the car off - damage the A/C in any way? I've heard both sides of the coin....

Turning the A/C off prior to turning off the car will prevent an extra load on the engine after you start it up. Its minor, but cold starts are bad enough on an engine, so I always keep my A/C off for the engines sake, not the air compressor.
