Aviator Style

What a beautiful vehicle! I went by my local L-M dealer to see the new Aviator and fell in love.

If I didn't already have a Mark VIII, I would certainly give this truck a test ride to my garage. Just the fact that it has an InTech 4.6L like the VIII, makes it my favorite SUV.

Maybe I can talk my wife into test driving one....

'Ya - but it's a TRUCK ! :(

Thinking of trading Winkin, allready? That would be funny.
The guy that bought PINKIN' swore he was NEVER EVER gonna sell it.

15 months later, Pinkin sits on the Used Car Lot at a Pittsburg, Pa Ford Dealer, with a nearly flat tire, while Mr. Never-Ever was driving around in a new 1993 Ford Explorer Limited.

Deja Vu ????

Forgive my ignorance...

You mentioned "intech" so I assume they use the 4V in the Aviator.
The question is, is it the aluminum block?
And are they still using that block in the Bullitt?

I'm just thinking, with the pending demise of the Maurader and Mach I, and the Cobra now iron blocked, the lighter block would not be as economical to produce.

I drove it too and love it, but my heart is set on a Navigator.

RE: Aviator Style

I too, think it is a beautiful truck. I just wish Ford wouldn't have made it look like a mini-Navigator.

RE: Aviator Style

My wife owned a pearl white 1994 Mark VIII and had a small accident so she started to look around for a new car (while driving the damaged Mark), and she couldn't find anything that she liked better than the Mark VIII until she seen the Aviator.

Well, we seen a "Ceramic White" Aviator at the dealer on Sunday and by Monday afternoon, we purchased it and took it home. What a Great car (don't drive like a truck). She actually likes it better than the Mark VIII.

Well, since then, I had the Mark VIII fixed, painted "Blue Pearl" (white with blue pearl and 3 coats of clear), and installed a rear wing. It's really shaping up. Next is an air kit to lower & raise it along with a nice set of 20" wheels.

(do you get the feeling that the Mark VIII is now mine?) I always liked the Mark!

From the FLM website:

4.6L 32-valve V8 InTech™ Engine
Poised to outperform SUVs of all sizes, the Lincoln Aviator delivers a thrilling performance with an advanced 32-valve V8 InTech™ engine. Using an advanced DOHC design and variable-length intake runners, the Lincoln Aviator engine produces strong low-end torque without sacrificing high rpm power. With 302 hp at 5,750 rpm, and 300 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,250 rpm, it's easy to see why driving the Lincoln Aviator is highly addictive.

Hmmmmm...... Mike, do ya mind posting some pics of the Mark and the Aviator.

RE: Aviator Style

I'll get some pics soon. I got the Mark back and it sat in the driveway for a few weeks without being driven. Today I dropped it off at the body shop again to have them fix a couple small problems.

I've also been waiting on a shop around the corner to call so they can check out the best way to lower & lift the car but they seem to be too busy. I need to find another shop that can handle the job and do it the best way possible.

I'll take some pics of both cars soon so I have them for the forum.

Thanks,

Mike
