Big Red full effort tune

VIII looking for 8s
Big Red has been officially "turned up". I hit the dyno on Thursday and everything went smoothly with no catastrophes.

The first thing we did is try to, as best as we could figure out a baseline on the car to see how much power it actually did make last year when it was in low 11 second territory. The problem with trying to figure this out was there were some variables that the car undertook since last year so there still was a little bit of guesswork. Refer to my "Exhausting" thread to see the changes. MUCH better lungs now. We ran the exhaust dumped for all pulls including the baseline so the baseline number is undoubtedly higher than what it actually made last year.

The car baselined under these conditions at 425rwhp. So a realistic 415rwhp is closer to what the car actually made. If we compare this to my final numbers, the pickup in power was very gratifying! The car picked up an additional 45ish rwhp. The car was happy with 21.75° of timing and peak IAT was 140 which was also very impressive for a non-intercooled setup seeing a peak of 10-11 psi at the top of 3rd. Corn is simply an amazing nectar.

On to the converter. Much to my surprise, the converter held lockup on the dyno at full lock in all gears for all pulls. This is a very good thing as the car was not only losing steam on the backhalf but I was also quickly running out of mph. With the converter locked up in 3rd I have 128mph to work with which should be plenty.

Here is my first pull in the car. As you will see there is a glitch with lockup which the tuner has since addressed because he had a setting wrong. It should be good now as opposed to this video but I haven't had the chance to test it yet. This pull had me shaking at the end. She eats up the road quick now and it surprised the hell out of me. I do believe I smell 10s.
