Coolant Flush

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. :embarrassed:

When I bring the lincoln out of hibernation, a flush of the cooling system is on my list of maintenance tasks. All though the Ford dealerships around me charge ridiculous fees for these procedures, I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet. I'm just not too hip on the idea of using the home flush kits and a garden hose knowing that there will still be residual non-distilled water in the block and heater core (after back flushing it).

My question is when the dealership uses their machine to flush the system, is it still necessary for them to back flush the heater core as a seperate procedure (want to make sure I specify if it is)? Also for those who have used the dealership for this procedure, how long should I expect it to take? Last time I went there to have the new A/C system charged they told me it would take a couple hours with an appointment made, however once I arrived with the vehicle they wanted to keep it for a full day (NOT HAPPENING :mad-tilt:).
