Diamond Anniversary edition found in junkyard

I was at my local u-pall yard yesterday and came upon quite a sad sight--a '96 Diamond Anniversary edition sitting forlornly in one of the rows. Notably, the seats are still there and appear to be in reasonably good shape, as do the etched quarter windows (it really doesn't look like much is gone at all, actually; it's only been there for a little over a week). Anyone have one and need these model specific and NLA parts? It's at Chesterfield Auto Parts in Richmond, VA if so. I'm actually thinking about taking the seats myself to keep them from going to the crusher with the rest of the car, even though I don't have a VIII at the moment (I had a '96 years ago and would love another someday).

Long shot but hope it might be helpful to someone.

That's a nice find! I'm not in the market at present, but I too would be tempted to get in there and grab the "good stuff." I've helped replace those quarter windows before. They aren't too bad. Studs are bonded to the glass, held in with nuts from the back side. (and a bunch of urethane) Remove the interior trim, and they should be pretty accessible. Those two-tone seats would be a great find for someone wanting to stand out just a bit.

I presume that would have had the highly desirable HID headlights, too..

In all honesty, I don't think I've ever seen a Diamond Anniversary "in the flesh." I've seen plenty of Collector Editions, but never a Diamond. Too bad it found its way there..

Did they have the HIDs? The lenses weren't broken, if so those might be a worthwhile grab too. Any good way to tell? I'm quite familiar with the, um, insufficient light output of the standard headlamps of the first gens.

The gen 1 LSC HID headlights lights are clear unlike the base halogen lights which have the regular lens. I think LSC diamond anniversary's are rare if they were available at all. If I was there I'd try to get the seats, rear windows and floor mats as well.

OK, that's what I thought. I looked at my photos again and it had the standard halogens (plus no LSC badging). I'm going to try to go back tomorrow and get the seats and rear windows. I don't think the floormats were still in the car. Hope everything is still there!

The VRCM and IMRC controllers are one year only units, might be worth grabbing them too.

heh. Leave it to Bill to think of that stuff. good ideas all around.

for the lights, the lenses will be clear rather than "fluted" Don't forget to grab the ballasts too though. (assuming they are indeed HIDs)

Went back today, short on time so I only managed to snag the rear seatback and the floormats (dirty but not worn through). The lower part of the driver's seat is, unfortunately, trashed--didn't notice the first time since something was laying on top of it. If I can figure out how to get it out I might just take the skins for both front seatbacks--they could be mated with any light graphite lower, right?

If I ever knew what the VRCM and IMRC controllers were, I've forgotten. What exactly would I be looking for?

I believe the VCRM is located in front of the radiator and AC condensor, it's a box with fins on ii. The IMRC controllers (actuators) are on the back of the intake manifold, probably easiest to just remove the whole manifold to get them.
