Front Sway Bar Links

Well, here is a quick (but effective) write up on changing the front sway bar links. First of all jack the car up and take off the 2 front wheels, then remove all 4 nuts on each sway bar link (there's 2 on each one). Now turn the steering wheel so you can get enough clearence to get each one through (I don't remember exactly which way is best for each one but it'll give you enough clearence). If you want more than enough room you can remove the brake line from the caliper but then you'll have to bleed the brakes aftewards. After getting the old ones out put on both new ones, and make sure not to tighten the nuts until both of them are in and ready to go. After you have each link on the vehicle tighten the nuts to 39-53 lb. ft (basically as hard as you can with a normal wrench). Then put the wheel back ona nd you're ready to go. Don't listen to all that jargon in the manual it will just confuse and piss you off.

Can shorter links for the front be had?

I assume you ask in the interest of a lowered car?

I'm not sure how critical it is for the front bar to retain the same working angles, but the bar is an odd shape. When you buy a new Addco bar, they now supply you with about 1/4" worth of spacers (installed at the center mounts) so that the bigger bars do not hit the k-member. (I know because a shop that replaced my k-member forgot to put the spacers back in. Starting wearing a hole just under the oil filter and made a nice clanging sound around corners...also damaged the bar) They also come with collars that mount up against the center mounts to prevent the bar moving laterally through the mounts...otherwise, the bottom of the end links can end up hitting the lower control arm; the clearance is very minimal. Since I do not recall Addco supplying this extra hardware some years back, I assume they added it to correct the clearance issues I just described. To make a long story short, it might have been easier to just go ahead and supply shorter end links...I don't know if any are produced at this time. Note that I had the above issues with a Mark that has only been lowered 1". I'm going to go down another inch and cross my fingers...

RE: Front Sway Bar Links

I have endlinks for the rear from SCP that I have yet to install. I haven't seen any for the front.
