How do I add my signature pic?

I'm not real sure with this new software whether "sigpic" is an recognized code?

Having gone through the user group permissions tree, I can tell you images are acceptable in signatures for members. I do not know at this time if there are limits on the size for images in the signature though.

I'll look around for more info.

Update...

I checked my profile and it is just simple BB code...

Thanks JP, that sig pic stuff was already there, I didn't add it, probably from the last time I had a signature pic?

"SIGPIC" was a *cough* vBulletin *cough* thing...

OK, doubled up some limits on signatures. (Thanks for the screenshot)

We do not speak of the place from whence the information darkness and mismanagement of websites lives... 😝

Thanks for the updated signature whatevers / thingys, I'll try again and see how it goes. :)

OK, I got rid of the Sig pic. It didn't complain about all of my characters.

Ha! I figured it out. It wanted a URL so I grabbed the URL of the pic I posted in the "A car photo to try posting on the new site".

Now I'll just have to post a smaller pic for the signature.

You know what I find somewhat odd is the system doesn't have a way to limit image sizes in the signature but has a limit on the image size when posting (which I still haven't found in an effort to adjust). We can disable images in signatures but don't seem to have a way to control them. Perhaps someone has developed an add-on for that.

uh-oh now hes talking add-ons :eek:

HA!

Since we're (I'm) thinking of it. I do think the image size limits present a problem. Not so much that they exist, but the forum software doesn't feel compelled to automatically resize the images to something more reasonable. Even as a tech guy, this is something that the modern crop of cell phones doesn't exactly make easy to do. It'd be a useful feature to have, for sure..

I discovered the basic attachment limit is memory based and not by image size.

I set the memory limit for attachments to 4096KB.

I set the image limits in pixels to 2560x1600

YUN00175.jpg

This image is 2560x1440 and 1.6MB.

This should be more than adequate for quality images to be uploaded and displayed? But I agree, if it were to automagically reduce oversized images, it would be most convenient.

... and fail

Can the number of "characters" be adjusted?

I'm still getting a warning that I have 96 too many... 😝

I'll look into it.

OK...

Signature limits now are as follows; 300 characters, 8 lines, 4 links, 2 images, 4 smilies and text size adjustment from "1" to "7" for paid members compared to the default of 25 characters, 2 lines, 0 links, 0 images, 0 smilies and text size of "1" for "registered users" (non-members).

I still need to figure out how to make the signature photo small enough. Resizing it doesn't seem to make it appear smaller.

I found this...

How can I limit the size of images in signatures?

Add this to the EXTRA.css template:

Code:

.signature.messageText img {
max-width: 200px;
}

Adjust the size to suit, or substitute for a percentage.

So, the question is... what size do we want to limit sig pics(height and width)?
