Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

I think he means 8 guage speaker wires (I hope) Use a minimum of 4 gauge power wire. Since you have two amps, I'd get 1/0 gauge wire from the battery to trunk, and use a distrobution block to split it to 2, 4 gauge wires.

If you have to take the black shroud out to make the box fit, then by all means ditch it. You'll prolly have to take out the stock amp too.

BTW, www.knukonceptz.com has the absolute best prices on very high quality wire, if you feel like waiting a few days to save a lot of bucks...

LMK if you need more help, it sounds like you are doing great. Getting excited yet? This is what car audio is all about. :)

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

u might wanna think about bracing that box. ive heard of these things shredding boxes apart.

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

I've got over 50 screws in that thing plus the glue.

I'd have to take the thing completely apart. I'll make another box if it shreds this one. Not like I care about the wood. :D

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

I know a guy running two of those brahmas, he made a completly steel frame, the back and sides are 1/4" steel plates and the front is 2 layers of 1" MDF which is steel re-enforced. He works at a BIG machine shop and 'aquired' the materials and he has a suburban 2500 that he put it in, a little better payload available for the 500 lb setup. It sounds and looks pretty cool though. His reason for doing all of this: At a competition, the speakers turned the front of his last box into sawdust and both drivers were laying on the floor of his truck. He only used 3/4" MDF the first time, obviously not enough, but i think he might have over compensated a little...

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

You won't have to take the box apart to brance it. Just make some triangle shaped pieces of wood, and put them against the sides ands screw them down. You can also take longer pieces of MDF (like 8 inches lonng 2 inches wide, whatever) and screw them into the walls.

With only 1000 watts you shouldn't have to worry about any insane bracing, but a little bracing is always good.

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

GREAT!!! I build the box wait 2 days to install it. Then they try to do the install and the crossfire amp is not working. I talk to the guy online and he says it was working when he shipped it out. All it's done is sit on the floor since I got it. The box has no damage to it at all *(still have the box) and he says the amp might have gotten "shaken up" in shipment. The caraudio place I took it too is pretty reliable so I don't think they missed anything.

Doesnt look like this guy is going to give me back my 250$ so I have a sub in a box in my freaking trunk with the install PAYED FOR but no amp to run it!!!! FREAKING CRAP

What do you guys think I should do. Should I test the amp myself? If so How do I do that? I told this guy I would do that and try to talk to crossfire about the problem and get back to him. Problem is that I can't find crossfire's website. I'm in a rut here. Anyone have suggestions? http://users3.ev1.net/~acashiola/ot/rant2.gif

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

not trying to be condecsending or anything, but check all of your connections and fuses again, just to make sure. Grab a volt meter and make sure that you have a good ground, stuff like that. If you dont find anything wrong, and you dont have a warrantee, pop the top off of the amp and carefully start looking for anything that looks fried. If you find something, go from there, if not, i dont know what to tell you.

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

I have taken the amp to a shop and found the sodder which holds the board down and connected to the RCA plugs where all shot to hell. Prob done in shipping. COST= 110$ Meaning. Total price of AMP = 350 bucks.

Geezus

What's it going to take to get the system working in my car?

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

you got raped on that repair!

Cost of solder and just for S&G's a new soldering iron: $15

Granted they probably ran a lot of diagnostics and it probably took them some time, but its fixed. Lets see that install!!

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

Here it is. There are a lot of tweaks I need to do. The box will be slid into the back portion of the trunk which will look a lot better. Kinda like a project in progress is what this ordeal has turned into. The other amp will be installed above the one you see in the back of the trunk.

I'm still cleaning up the edges of the material on the box so that should be cleared up shortly (glue's drying)

More problems have arisen lately. My front left tweat has blown. My front left speaker is cutting in and out. (happened the other day after first trying to get the sub installed ?? )

Plus now I'm getting a lot of rattling from my doors. I'm going to have raamatt b/c it sounds like shaking a tin box full of change in my car.

RE: Its really starting to get on my nerves now.

Took the doors apart and found out why the door was rattling. The tweet has popped out of where it was glued in at. The audio shop because of the wierd way the tweet mounts are made decided to just glue the tweet in there. (ill have to figure out how to minipulate the tweet mounts to work) Anyway, the tweet has fallen out of it's mount and stuck to the door inside the panel.

On the left side however I havent been able to get to the tweet because I can't find my darn screwdriver. I did find the problem of the speaker cutting out. Just a loose wire.

The sub sounds awesome. The entire system sounds good actually. Now that I got that tweet up and played with the settings a little it's made a huge improvement.
